Dr. Algirdas Makarevicius
Highest degree achieved - Ph.D. in English Linguistics. Basic field of interest is linguistic pragmatics and cross-cultural communication. His other interests include language teaching methodologies, curriculum development, computer-assisted language learning and website design.
Dr. Algirdas Makarevicius studied, lived and worked in Australia, Lithuania, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Northern Cyprus, China, and Oman. He also visited many other countries and traveled three times around the world.
From 2006 till 2009 Dr. Algirdas Makarevicius was Head of Languages Centre at the Middle East College in Muscat, and from 2010 till 2014 was Associate Professor of Linguistics and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nizwa. At present, he teaches Academic Reading and Writing, Academic Spoken Communication Skills and English for Specific Purposes in Higher Colleges of Technology, United Arab Emirates.
