Personal Profile

1. Relating. How I relate to others

1.1. Task-oriented
Impersonal, ‘let’s get down to business’ rules before relationship. Things get done when the right plans and processes are in place. I generally believe that business should be transactional. I try to build necessary relationships as quickly as possible in order not to waste time getting down to business. I believe that a legal contract is a fixed agreement that should not be changed even if circumstances change and that trust is often based on consistency. I generally derive satisfaction from my performance in accomplishing goals, getting things done and meeting challenges.

1.2. Implicit
Meaning often has to be inferred from both what is said and what is not said. Body language is important. I am always polite and considerate in my communication with others. I am highly attuned to picking up signals from non-verbal behaviour and context to interpret the message. I will imply meaning in the same way, and rarely speak directly what is on my mind, considering this to be very rude. Written communication will be formal.

1.3. Individual - Group
I try most of the time to rely upon my own efforts and resources. I tend to believe that the individual should take the blame for his/her own mistakes, but should also receive personal praise and reward when his/her constructive effort brings benefits to the group or team. When problem solving, I tend to weigh up carefully the consequences of allowing extra time to gain consensus versus the need for decisive, individual action.

2. Regulating. How I make decisions

2.1. Risk Taking
Steady, slow, but sure. Avoid unnecessary change. I strive continually for consistent approaches that produce known results. I value what I have and would always choose to stay with what I know rather than gamble on a future which is unpredictable. I welcome a high level of regulation that gives me security. I always plan well in advance for a known outcome. I have a very strong faith in higher levels of authority which are proven to be solid and dependable. I hold tradition in the highest regard and always try to learn from the experience of others.

2.2. Loose
Flexible, go with the flow. Things will happen in their own time. I am often flexible in the allocation of time to allow events and relationships to unfold in an unforced way. I consider people to be much more important than the task. Interruptions do not present a problem. I am very good at "multi-tasking" and find it quite normal to handle several tasks simultaneously. It does not bother me if people arrive after the appointed meeting time, assuming that they have good reason to do so.

2.3. Concentrated
I focus power and authority on specific people in the group. I believe that the most effective way of governing is by having a clear chain of command. I feel very secure in the knowledge that with strong leadership, the 'ship' will move in the right direction.

3. Reasoning. How I think

3.1. Linear
Analytical step by step process towards solution. Focus on exploring and integrating perspectives in a relatively structured way. In problem-solving, I generally prefer a direct line of reasoning, moving in a step-by-step process to reach my target quickly and efficiently. I often quickly identify what needs to be done and push for rapid implementation. While recognising that there are messy problems, I am good at reducing the unnecessary information and breaking problems down into manageable pieces.

3.2. Facts
Emphasis on data and concrete experiences. I generally believe that an argument can be won by presenting the factual evidence. I am likely to structure my projects so that they have measurable outcomes. I am skilful in gathering the right evidence and interpreting it correctly. I generally prefer to work from the specific to the general.

3.3. Simple
Focus on essentials, basics. Avoid unnecessary details. I like to deliver results in a time-efficient, simple manner, whenever possible. I am able to reduce complex issues to manageable portions without totally neglecting the impact of context and supporting data. If required, I can explore a problem in detail and present my ideas in a way that takes multiple angles into consideration.*
